From the founders
We built Populous so the learning loop could keep up with the building loop.
AI made it radically easier to build. Populous helps founders and teams validate at the same speed, using simulated customer populations to get directional signal in minutes.
Andrew and I connected around one question:
How can we simulate the world well enough to make better business decisions?
Andrew came to the question through physics, then finance. He studied systems where small changes can produce surprising outcomes, then worked as a data scientist in markets, where he saw how difficult it is to predict even simple outcomes with certainty.
I came to it from the other side. I studied finance and was always fascinated by the gap between clean economic models and messy real life. In spreadsheets, decisions look orderly. In the real world, people do not behave like neat curves on a graph. Later, in strategy consulting, I saw the same problem at scale: businesses make enormous decisions with incomplete information about how customers, competitors, and markets will actually respond.
When Andrew and I met during our MBAs, we kept coming back to the same belief: business is hard to predict because people are hard to predict. But for the first time, AI made it possible to simulate human behavior with enough nuance to become useful.
So we started building.
At first, the idea was broad: simulate the world to help companies make better decisions. But as we built, we noticed something more immediate.
AI has done for building what social media did for content creation. It made the act of making radically more accessible. Today, a founder can prototype a product, write a landing page, generate code, and launch a test faster than ever.
But the rest of the build loop has not caught up.
You can build at vibe-code speed, but validation still moves like the old world: recruit users, schedule interviews, wait for responses, analyze notes, run another round, and hope you asked the right question.
That gap is why we built Populous.
Populous gives builders simulated customer populations for when signal cannot wait. You define the audience you need to understand, ask the product or go-to-market question in front of you, and get directional evidence in minutes.
It does not replace real customers. It helps you move faster before and between real customer conversations. It helps you sharpen hypotheses, spot patterns, compare options, and decide what deserves deeper validation.
Builders can now create faster than ever. We built Populous so the learning loop can keep up.
